Prevention & early detection

Occupational health check-ups are partly mandatory — and entirely an investment that pays off many times over through illnesses caught early.

What it's about

Mandatory examinations under the Occupational Medical Care Ordinance (ArbMedVV), offered check-ups, voluntary check-ups: many companies are unclear on this three-tier model. Compliance here matters a lot — missing mandatory examinations count as a regulatory offence.

Why it pays off

Early detection saves money: a diabetes diagnosis caught early costs 60% less over the course of treatment than one caught late. § 3 No. 34 EStG allows up to €600/employee in preventive-care costs as a tax-free benefit in kind.
